Ordered first R2D2 parts
Something I have wanted to do for over 25 years… build my own R2. I ordered the raw aluminum dome and another part tonight. Now I’m committed. Gotta get it done in time for the Star Wars Celebration in April 2005. Stay tuned for updates. I’ve also set up a new R2 blog to report my progress.

Deck expansion almost done
I’ve been working for 2 months on expanding the deck in the back yard. Now I’m down to the railings, pergola, and lighting. Hopefully all but the lighting can get done this weekend. After that it’s deck-warming party time!

Nokia unveils mid-air messaging
From BBC News: “Nokia is making a mobile that lets you write short text messages in mid-air.” This same technique has already been used in tennis shoes and in some LED clocks and desktop spherical gadget things. I also experimented with this technique waaay back when I was in junior high school.

Windows are in upstairs
Roger came over and got all three casement windows installed in the upstairs renovation. Now I just need to seal them and trim them out. Next up is the HVAC system. Still getting the last drywall up and already have most of it taped and first coat of joint compund is on.
